Summary

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 So funny! I loved how the illustrations looked like children's drawings and coloring books。 I also loved how the story is told via letters written by the crayons themselves。 Super fun and creative。 So funny! I read this to my young grandchild, but ended up skipping and rewording some of it。 The Crayons are unhappy, each one complains and comes across as very whiney。 Cute concept, but some use phrases that aren't acceptable for a polite 5 year old。 I think the intent of being fair to all Crayons is good, but i would prefer to teach kids how to express perceived unfairness in a much more polite and respectful manner。 Also。 It is important to teach that everyone has different talents, where this book s I read this to my young grandchild, but ended up skipping and rewording some of it。 The Crayons are unhappy, each one complains and comes across as very whiney。 Cute concept, but some use phrases that aren't acceptable for a polite 5 year old。 I think the intent of being fair to all Crayons is good, but i would prefer to teach kids how to express perceived unfairness in a much more polite and respectful manner。 Also。 It is important to teach that everyone has different talents, where this book seems to lack teaching that appreciation。 。。。more

I was on the look out for a book to use with my early ESL learners and stumbled upon this one。 A beautifully illustrated and charming way of introducing colours and the way they are used for children。 Loved this。

This book is a great read for younger children。 This story can be used in the classroom to teach a lesson about how people feel when they are left out。 Each crayon has its own reason for wanting to quit and the same goes for people。 This book can teach students that it is best to include everyone and not to leave someone out, and to also hear out the person if they are upset。

The Day The Crayons Quit is such an incredibly cute and quirky story, after reading it I loved it。 I think it would be the perfect book for an early childhood classroom, and the illustrations are so cute。 I love that the letters from each crayon are written in the color and scribble-like handwriting, it is adorable and I really enjoyed reading it。

This is a very interesting post-modern book。 This book has multiple narratives。 It narratives the perspective of every single crayon。 Describing what they do and what they color。 This book also is very playful and an enjoyable book to read。 It is funny and has many small jokes。 This book also provides readers to engage in more than one reading to “get it"。 I would highly recommend this book to any elementary class。 This is a very interesting post-modern book。 This book has multiple narratives。 It narratives the perspective of every single crayon。 Describing what they do and what they color。 This book also is very playful and an enjoyable book to read。 It is funny and has many small jokes。 This book also provides readers to engage in more than one reading to “get it"。 I would highly recommend this book to any elementary class。 。。。more

This book is a great read。 It’s a type of book that you wouldn’t have expected。 These crayons are all writing the little boy, Duncan, a letter。 They all have different reasons as to why they are writing to him。 It’s opens up children creativity because all of the colors are being used in the book。 Children will enjoy a silly book like this one。 The way that the pages are formatted are nice。 It shows the letter and the color that is writing。 Any child of any age would enjoy reading this。 I highly This book is a great read。 It’s a type of book that you wouldn’t have expected。 These crayons are all writing the little boy, Duncan, a letter。 They all have different reasons as to why they are writing to him。 It’s opens up children creativity because all of the colors are being used in the book。 Children will enjoy a silly book like this one。 The way that the pages are formatted are nice。 It shows the letter and the color that is writing。 Any child of any age would enjoy reading this。 I highly recommend this book! 。。。more

Such a cute book! I love how each crayon has their own opinion of how much the user is using that specific color。

This book is so funny! Not necessarily a children's book that had an underlying moral to teach the kids in my opinion, but it is definitely a fun read。 This has always been a favorite for elementary school kids to read and take AR quizzes on from my personal experiences。 One that I definitely have on my shelves for my kids。 This book is so funny! “The Day the Crayons Quit” is a compilation of letters written by Duncan’s crayons。 Each crayon presents a new problem that they have been experiencing, by being Duncan’s crayon。 This book is an excellent mentor text for teaching opinion and persuasive writing to student。 What I loved was that each crayon had its own personality and voice to their letter。 This is shown by the way the crayon is show on the page, how they wrote their letter, and the example they gave next to it。 Also, even though “The Day the Crayons Quit” is a compilation of letters written by Duncan’s crayons。 Each crayon presents a new problem that they have been experiencing, by being Duncan’s crayon。 This book is an excellent mentor text for teaching opinion and persuasive writing to student。 What I loved was that each crayon had its own personality and voice to their letter。 This is shown by the way the crayon is show on the page, how they wrote their letter, and the example they gave next to it。 Also, even though all of the crayons come from the same box their problems varied so much which can tie into learning difference of opinion。 The book also demonstrates how to use evidence to back up their point like with the yellow and orange debate of who is the color of the sun。 Then yellow shows a picture that Duncan colored where is was the color of the sun and not orange。 。。。more

To anyone who may be worried a color may be called “flesh” or “skin tone” the only color we don’t hear from is Brown, ‘he’ is mentioned but the only two skin color crayons we hear from are below in case you want to check just to be sure。 In the book they are called ‘Beige’ ‘peach’ and in mention only ‘mr。brown’ Additionally, as much as this story is SIMLAR to other crayon stories about boxes that talk, there is a much different theme and message in this story and has much more, in my opinion, to To anyone who may be worried a color may be called “flesh” or “skin tone” the only color we don’t hear from is Brown, ‘he’ is mentioned but the only two skin color crayons we hear from are below in case you want to check just to be sure。 In the book they are called ‘Beige’ ‘peach’ and in mention only ‘mr。brown’ Additionally, as much as this story is SIMLAR to other crayon stories about boxes that talk, there is a much different theme and message in this story and has much more, in my opinion, to give as I enjoy the story about compromise and communication。 I go more into this in a reply to another review。 ——now is the excerpt from the book!——“Dear Duncan, I am tired of being called “light brown” or “dark tan” because I am neither。 I am BEIGE and I am proud。 I am also tired of being second to mr。brown crayon。 It’s not fair that brown gets all the bears, ponies and puppies while I only get are turkey dinners (if I’m lucky) and wheat, and let’s be honest- when was the last time you saw a kid cited about coloring wheat? “Hey Duncan, it’s me red crayon。 We need to talk。”The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt is a fun, light-hearted and creative fantasy book about a young boy named Duncan and his crayons。 One day in class Duncan goes to get his crayons, but instead finds a stack of letters。 Each crayon has written Duncan a letter。 Red crayon is overworked, Purple crayon just wants to color inside the lines, Beige crayon is tired of being second to Brown, Grey crayon is tired and needs a break, White crayon feel “Hey Duncan, it’s me red crayon。 We need to talk。”The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt is a fun, light-hearted and creative fantasy book about a young boy named Duncan and his crayons。 One day in class Duncan goes to get his crayons, but instead finds a stack of letters。 Each crayon has written Duncan a letter。 Red crayon is overworked, Purple crayon just wants to color inside the lines, Beige crayon is tired of being second to Brown, Grey crayon is tired and needs a break, White crayon feels empty, Black crayon wants to be used as more than just an outline, Yellow crayon and Orange crayon both think they are they real color of the sun, Blue crayon is short and stubby, Peach crayon is embarrassed because Duncan peeled his wrapper off and Green crayon is upset that his other friends are fighting。 Duncan of course loves all his crayons and wants them to be happy so he comes up with an idea。 What’s the great idea? I guess you will have to read to find out! This book is a great read aloud for students in first grade through third grade。 It can be used in the classroom in many ways。 One way it can be used is as a writing prompt for students。 The teacher could have the students think about what their crayons would say to them and write a letter from one of their crayons to themselves。 Another way it can be used is to teach students about point of view。 Students can do activities on how each crayon is feeling and give evidence from the story to support their answer on why the crayon is feeling that way。 One additional way this book can be used is on the first day of school。 The teacher could read this to the class and have students tell one thing that they wish their classmates knew about them。 。。。more

While working on and an assignment for my Creative Arts class I was looking for resources to aide in teaching the concept of color to children。 This book popped up and I watched the read a long and was literally laughing out loud。 I can't tell you how many time I find the plush crayons in random spots at work, but when I wanted them to take a picture they were all gone。 I guess they were on strike。 📖📖📖📖 While working on and an assignment for my Creative Arts class I was looking for resources to aide in teaching the concept of color to children。 This book popped up and I watched the read a long and was literally laughing out loud。 I can't tell you how many time I find the plush crayons in random spots at work, but when I wanted them to take a picture they were all gone。 I guess they were on strike。 📖📖📖📖 。。。more

“The Battle Lines Have Been Drawn。”I loved this book – it’s now one of my favorite children’s book。 I’m definitely going to keep this one in mind for the future。 The story is cute, colorful, and hilarious。 The pictures are adorable and fun。 The narrative and drawings tell the reader a lot about Duncan。 The fact that it was about crayons is what immediately caught my interest。 I have always loved using crayons and still draw every now and then。 This story really took me back to childhood days “The Battle Lines Have Been Drawn。”I loved this book – it’s now one of my favorite children’s book。 I’m definitely going to keep this one in mind for the future。 The story is cute, colorful, and hilarious。 The pictures are adorable and fun。 The narrative and drawings tell the reader a lot about Duncan。 The fact that it was about crayons is what immediately caught my interest。 I have always loved using crayons and still draw every now and then。 This story really took me back to childhood days。The Day the Crayons Quit is a great book for child readers。 The language is easy and straightforward enough for children to clearly understand and make connections between what is being said and what is drawn。 The story teaches kids to take care of their belongings and (this may be me reading it a little too deep) to treat others with respect and fairness。There is a second book, The Day the Crayons Came Home, which I’m for sure going to read。 。。。more
